CONDITIONAL SENTENCES 0, 1, 2

0 Conditional

We use 0 conditional for general truths, things that always happen.

If + present simple, present simple.

Example: If you heat water, it boils. OR Water boils if you heat it.

CONDITIONAL 1

We use coditional 1 for "real" or "possible" situations.

If + present simple, will + infinitive.

Example: If I win a lottery, I'll take a gap year OR I'll take a gap year if I win a lottery.

CONDITIONAL 2

We use conditional 2 for "unreal" situation. They can be more or less probable, but it is not something the author is sure about. Let's see what they look like and some examples.

If + past simple, would + infinitive.

If I went to New York, I would visit the Yankees Stadium OR I would visit the YS if I went to NY.

(It will be more or less likely depending on your likings and money.)

BUT

If I were invisible, I would ....... OR If I could choose a superpower, I would .....

(This is rather unlikely to happen)

Let's watch this video.
